I have been living in Dublin for 4 years now with my husband and 2 daughters.

My name is Gettje Nieuwenhuis. I have been a kindergarten teacher at De Madelief since schoolyear 2022/’23. I really like doing this! I always had an affinity for younger children. During my student days I worked at campsites as an activity supervisor for the little ones.

Before I started as a teacher at De Madelief, I occasionally helped as a volunteer with the toddlers, with special activities. My own son has just outgrown the toddler stage, so the experience (as a mother) with a bilingual toddler is still fresh in my memory 🙂

In the summer of 2016 I came to live in Ireland with my husband and son. We really like it!

I have been living in Dublin with my family for several years. I studied at the UvA (Languages, Media) and HvA in The Netherlands and lived and worked in Amsterdam for several years.

I like hiking, going out with my family, tennis and Netflix. I really enjoy working with children; (I have worked in different creches), listening to what they say and how they say something is great! I’d like to contribute to a small part of their development.
