The first reading competition of De Madelief
Saturday, June 12, 2021, the final of the reading competition of De Madelief took place for the first time! At the beginning of May, the children from class 3, 4, 5 and 6 could register to participate in the reading competition.
We had 2 preliminary rounds in which the children read a piece of text from a book of their choice to the children in class 2, 3, 4 and 5. The children were judged on their reading pace, intonation, clarity and general impression and what they did everyone’s best!
From the 11 candidates, 3 finalists were eventually chosen: Jasper Zwaan from class 4 and Julianna Oonk and Sophia van der Linden from class 5. For the final we had a real official jury consisting of: our secretary Eefje, former teacher Tanny, parent Berit and ambassador Adriaan Palm.
The finalists were quite nervous, but all 3 read very well! And how difficult it was for the jury to choose a winner. After a short but intensive consultation they agreed.
Our winner of the very first reading competition is: Sophia van der Linden. She did a great job. Jasper and Julianna have earned a shared 2nd place! We are very proud of the winners of all the children who participated!
